No vote YET, League may cancel backup weekend

July 20, 2011

Super Bowl in Indy

There’s plenty of dissapointment as the Players did not vote on a new CBA. Traditional media outlets had guessed all weekend that a vote would occur this afternoon. They key here, it’s all just guessing. The mood is described as ‘optimistic’, and the owners will still meet in Atlanta on Thursday, although exactly what they will do if there’s no player vote isn’t clear. They may just say ‘We’re here, We’re ready!”

Another optimistic sign is that League officials are ready to notify Indianapolis hotels that they may go ahead and conduct business as usual the weekend following the originally scheduled Super Bowl. The League had placed a hold on that weekend if the lockout carried into the regular season and a modified Playoff/Super-Bowl scenario were to be necessary.

The League is sending yet another clear picture that they are in fact ready for business, and ready right now.

Redskins Park will remain empty for yet another day.
